This is very odd.
I've installed the version 1.40 drivers for my DWA-552 on Windows XP SP3. The drivers and configuration utility both work fine, but as a result of installing the upgrade, XP's fast user switching feature has been disabled. Windows expressly identifies wlangina.dll as the cause, and 1.40 notes a fix involving that very file.
So, what gives? How can I fix this? Going into User Accounts in the Control Panel is fruitless, as Windows will not allow me to re-enable fast user switching.

The driver has a add in for domain login. It's something we're working to correct.
-
In other words, it's a known bug on your end. What's the ETA for a new driver that corrects the problem?
-
It's not a bug. It's intended. We're trying to obtain a newer version without the wlangina addin that forces the domain login window.
For now use the older drivers.

Uninstalling 1.40 and installing the older drivers does not fix the problem.

Uninstalling 1.40 and installing the older drivers does not fix the problem.
Do a system restore to a date before you installed the updated drivers.
Then, wait for the new drivers.
-
Unsinstall the drivers then restart the fast user switching service. Then just install the driver only, you'll be able to use the latest driver plus still have fast user switching.

This worked for me:
