Title: D-ViewCam 2 - Couldn't Record with Sound
Post by: terabyte on September 24, 2008, 01:27:38 PM
I'm using the DCS-2100 Camera and the original software for a long time. Just installed the new D-ViewCam 2 to replace the old one. But found the video recording was no sound. I'm sure the Camera's sound feature was working fine. I could hear the sound from accessing the realtime Camera video streaming through IE. Is this new software support the video recording with sound? Or there is any setting i missed? ???

If you have already added the camera to the software, cilck the "I" icon in the upper right hand corner of the video to access the configuration. There is an option to enable audio for the camera.

Yes, i knew there was a Audio feature. But the Audio selection feature was grey hidden. It's set to Disable by itself but couldn't let me to choose Enable.

Are you sure your camera was recording sound on the other software? The option would only be disabled if the unit does not support sound and after looking up this model information I do not see any built-in-microphone option. If you are infact using the DCS-2100 model it does not have the option of audio it is video only.

Yes, i'm sure it got built-in mic. I have used it with the old software for recording for a long time. It could recorded the sound. Also i can hear the sound too from the IE too.

yeah it appears you are correct the DCS-2100 does have built in mic and the audio does not seem to be working with D-ViewCam 2.03 currently we are aware of this issue and are working to resolve the problem.

I just un-install the new D-ViewCam 2.03 and re-installed the old IP Cam software. It really worked fine. So pls fix your new one to support the DCS-2100. I'll buy one more camera in the future. Since the DCS-2100 is not available anymore. Do the old software support the new camera model? Or waiting for your new version to support both new & old camera?

No. The new camera models require D-ViewCam2

Unfortunately The DCS-2100 is an EOL (End of life) product and is no longer supported so I cannot say whether or not this software will be updated to support this camera in the future.

I can't seem to record audio using D-ViewCam 2 software with the DCS-950G. I know I selected the parameter within D-ViewCam 2 to enable audio on this camera. Can you please check into this camera also? I don't think it is EOL status.

Make sure audio is enabled on the camera and in the camera information in D-ViewCam it should be working fine. I believe it will be disabled by default when you add the camera so just click the "i" Icon above the camera and select enable for audio.

Remove the camera and then added manually, sometimes D-View will "freak out" if you add the camera automatically.
