For those of you who have an older Toshiba laptop (in my case A60) and are having problems connecting wirelessly to the 655, here is the most recent driver for the Atheros wireless adapter.

I was getting a constant message that it was validating my connection and couldn't verify my certification. After this driver update, things seem to be working well.
I hope this can help someone avoid headaches in the future!
Peace

Any "couldn't verify my certification" messages could also be cause when the router is expecting WPA2 AES passphrase but your Windows (Windows XP Sp2) does not have the WPA2 post SP2 update:

This helped, thanks. I've been checking the toshiba canada site for over a year, and they have never posted a wifi update for the toshiba A70.
After seeing this I started looking at other toshiba sites and grabbed the update I wanted off the USA site.
My symptoms before the upgrade were that I could not connect to the router when it was in n-mixed mode and using WPA2.
If I switched to WEP, it would work, or if I switched to G/B mixed mode, but kept the WPA2, it would work.
Now WPA2 and n-mixed mode are working at the same time.
