Title: WAN Static IP - COX
Post by: unxadm on October 06, 2008, 03:19:22 PM
Anyone using a WAN side static IP?  When I upgraded to 1.20 the router reset to defaults and used DHCP to pick up an IP from my provider (COX Business), then I logged in to re-load the configuration from backup which restored the static IP configuration.  After the restore I was then unable to access anything out on the Internet.  LAN side stuff worked fine, external stuff didn't.  I bounced the cable modem and router a few times to no such luck.  I then switched it back to DHCP and it was fine.  I then upgraded to 1.21 and still had the same problem.  Called COX and they re-sent down the configuration to the modem and cleared the ARP cache.  Was curious if anyone else had any kind of issues with going from DHCP back to static?  Anyone using COX?  I should say prior to upgrading to 1.20 I had no issues with the above procedure as far as it switching to DHCP then re-loading the static IP configs back in.

Thanks.

I am using WAN static IP and works fine with both v1.20 (official released), v1.21 (official released) and v1.21b05-nonsecurespot.

Not using COX. Cable Modem service in my country are all DHCP service, thus setting static ip is useless since the CMTS end won't recognize it as being 'authorized'.
