Title: Can DNS-323 be set up as SMTP server?
Post by: Dundy on October 17, 2008, 09:48:13 AM
Hi!

I was wondering if a DNS-323 or 313 can be set up in order to make it work as an SMTP server. I have mobile internet ISP and it doesn't provide an SMTP server access unfortunately.

All ideas are very much appreciated!

Thanks in advance!  :)

The DNS-323 does not have a built in SMTP server, only a client for sending emails regarding things like Drive Failures, Temperature and Disk Quotas.

Thanks a lot for the quick answer.  ;)

Isn't it possible to later upload a small SMTP server program or is that not considered "ethical"? I don't know too much about NAS systems nor do I know much about how far one can go with replacing/extending the software included. Thanks!

The best we can do is put in a request, but the device is limited to the amount of available memory on board the chips.
