I am trying to configure Wake on LAN on my DGL-4500, but when I try to set up the Virtual Server rule I am not able to broadcast to 192.168.0.255. The DGL-4500's web page returns "Invalid IP address for virtual server 'Wake-On-Lan'."
From what I understand about Wake On LAN you have to broadcast it to the entire network since the NIC card does not have an IP address on the machine that is to be woken up, thus the router does not know which port to send the packets down to when it is trying to route the request/magic packet. that's why I'm trying to configure the Virtual Server to send to 192.168.0.255 (I think it's because the ARP tables are flushed from the router).
The settings I'm trying to use are:
Enable: checked
Name: Wake-On-Lan (selected from dropdown box)
IP Address: 192.168.0.255
Protocol: 17 (UDP)
Public Port: 9
Private Port: 9
Schedule: Always
Inbound Filter: Allow All
Does anybody know if this is a limitation of this router or am I doing this wrong?
Thanks.

FYI, using firmware 1.12 you could enter a 192.168.0.255 address, and I am using it for the same purpose as you (WOL). It works fine. In 1.13, they "corrected/broke" the validation on the webpage to not allow *.*.*.255 addresses.
I am not sure why; but I think this is a bug that should get fixed.
