Title: How does one access a Sharepoint drive
Post by: agenrsmith on October 23, 2008, 04:19:39 AM
I installed the Sharepoint software.  It sees my USB drive and connects to it successfully.

Now what?  How do I access it as a drive?  "My Computer" does not sees a drive, Network does not see a LAN drive.

How do I "map" it?

Am I the only clueless one?

Does the drive have anything on it?
If not, you would have to go to Disk Management and Partition and format the drive in order to use it.

The drive is formatted in FAT32 with content on it.

From your answer I guess the drive should appear as a local drive?

Does it matter what file system format is being used?

No, I am having the same problem.  Before yesterday I had sharepoint .94 installed on one of my computers.  I never tried it out with my sandisk USB 2gb drive.  Yesterday I uninstalled .94 and installed version 1.00 since I noticed there was a new version out.  I then plugged in my drive to the router.  The computer was able to see it and it connected fine.  But then no drive listed in My Computer or anywhere else.

I am wondering if there is a bug with 1.00 or if I am missing something?  BTW, the drive is formatted in FAT32 and there are plenty of files on it, almost full.

When I played around with it a couple of weeks ago, I just used the connect link in the utility and Windows noticed a new drive which I then partitioned and formatted.  I am not running it now, I just built a new system and didn't install the sharepoint stuff as I use my USB connection to run a laptop fan that sits underneath the router keeping it cool.
