Title: VPN help!
Post by: vane0326 on October 29, 2008, 09:17:01 AM
Hi everyone,

This is my first wireless router. I've installed the latest firmware and configured a pptp vpn in the router. I’m using virtualization server having 1723 TCP open. The pptp is enabled.

Using a LAN cable, I am successfully connected to the VPN and I’m able to map drives and use RDP.

But when my Laptop is in wireless mode I could successfully connect a VPN connection BUT I’m not able to map any drives or use RDP.

Is there a way to resolve this issue?

vane0326,

Do you have any windows firewall or anti-virus softwares installed local to that machine? If so try to temporarily disable it and try again.

The only firewall I have is the Windows Firewall. On or Off the LAN VPN works. But in wireless mode it will not work either way.

The wireless is going to have a different IP's and MAC addresses. What type of PPTP are you running?

Hi Lycan,

I don't understand when you said PPTP. The only PPTP I know is the VPN.

I did assign a static IP address on the LAN network adapter and it worked. It's 192.168.0.95
Then I assign a static IP on the built in wireless network adapter. It's 192.168.0.99

Yes.

I notice in the DIR-655 web interface there is a tab called advance wireless is there something we can change to make a stronger signal?
