Title: Formatting!!
Post by: miker607 on November 05, 2008, 09:20:14 AM
Hi all,
Another "new kid." I'm ready to purchase a DSM-520 (I know the 750 is out but for $150 the 520 is a toy for me) I have about 600+ DVDs that I'd like to format in the quickest, but best possible format for use on this unit. I do have an HD plasma but, alas, HDMI to DVI doesn't seem to work...I've had to settle for component out video...looks O.K. Any suggestions and guidance on this issue would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks in advance!

The simplest way to rip them is to the VOB.  It's also the quickest.  The other alternative is to translate to AVI using AutoGK.  It's probably only worth the extra time if you don't have the space for your library.

Component video is just fine for up to 1080i.  Don't sweat it.
