Yeah!  I assume it does not erase the data on the drives correct?  (of course you should back it up anyway!)

Correct. Your data is not affected from the firmware update but it is recommended to backup your data.

I executed the upgrade.  Everything seemed to work fine.  Data was intact and permissions were remembered.  It looks like there is still not support for remembering permissions when using a single drive.  Hope to check PS3 support tonight!

Yay! I'm so excited!

::edit:: I just applied the firmware and xbox 360 support works perfectly as far as I can tell. Great Success!!

Tried listening to MP3s streamed from my PS3 (that has the latest firmware) but no dice.  It says "no titles found" or something like that.  also tried to view pictures but the ps3 just sat there for a while until I gave up  :-[

mine did that too at first, did you enable your audio video server? after i updated it was defaulted to disabled.

I have a different problem now, I tried installing the PNP driver to my 64bit vista system. The driver installation "timed out" according to vista and now none of my usb ports work. I'm in the process of reinstalling my usb port drivers.  Anyone know what could have caused this?

- UPnP AV supports large files(over 4GB).

This works beautifully now.
Thank you D-Link!

Are there options on a menu somewhere or are they turned on by default?  I didn't see anything specific in any of the menus.  Thanks!

Jumbo frames can be set by logging into configuration and selecting LAN > Scroll to the bottom for Jumbo Frame Settings.

The fan settings are hardset int he firmware and can not be modified.

Is there something you have to setup on the DNS321 to get the XBOX to recognize it? I can see it but when I select it as a source it times out and says something about make sure that you have media sharing enabled.

Thoughts?

When you log onto the admin site "advanced" then on the left you see "UPnP AV Server" in that menu select the folder you want shared as media, and select the "Enable" radio button then save your settings, it should work after that.

It worked after I did a manual refresh of the directory.

How about support for Vista backup? It seems like it's still not working. Still the same error with 1.01 firmware:
The network share could not be accessed for the following reason:

You need Full Control permission for the network share. Make the user a co-owner of the share, with Full Control. The network share cannot be on a computer running Windows XP Home. (0x8100002A)
Please ensure that the network location is valid.

Any plans to fix this?

I take that back, everytime I try to play something it times out and says make sure you have media sharing software running. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Landon

I have updated to the 1.01 firmware.
Prior to the upgrade I had a raid 5 server backing up tot he DNS 321 on a regular schedule using the DNS ftp server as a target. This was working fine with no issues.
I have a user backup set with root permission for this purpose.
After upgrading to 1.01 this no  longer works. Upon trying to connect I get a "Target Server Connection timeout" error immediatly.
Testing using another FTP server target works fine so the DNS 321 appears to be the issue.
I have removed the user and readded, stopped teh FTP server and reset but to no avail.  Same error in all cases.

It would be good to have the original firmware so I could confirm the upgraded firmware as being the issue.
Any help is appreciated.

I just upgraded my firmware to 1.01 to get my new 1.5T drives working.

During config, I'm asked Auto or manual rebuild.  What's the difference and what should I select?

I hope someone can answer this tonight.

Thanks,
Gary

With auto-rebuild enabled the device will automatically format and re-mirror the Raid after you put in a new harddrive and power cycle the unit. Manual request you to click a button to rebuild the raid.
