Title: Can we really play streaming live videos from YouTube using the DSM-520?
Post by: ALR_acaigas_L2 on November 16, 2008, 07:36:53 AM
The customer using a WMP 11 already and he could play other web tv programs like Google tv using the Active TV Online with his DSM-520 MediaLounge except for Youtube. Is this normal? Because he mentioned that looking in http://www.dlink.com, YouTube was part of the listing of The Active TV Online for DSM-520. The firmware was already updated. He had no issues with the device it's just that he can't play live videos through YouTube using the DSM-520.

Users used to be able to.  Youtube changed their API in late October and broke the ActiveTV application.

I know why it's not working...just don't have the programming knowledge to fix it.

I created a fix for the YouTube not playing issue.  It is located at the link below...

The fix is not supported by MediaMall.  You may need to register to download the file.  The username there is the same as mine here for the message you seek.

You might want to take a look at this as well.

Forget Active-TV. Download PlayOn from MediaMall and you can stream Netfix, YouTube, CBS, CNN, and ESPN stuff. It's still in Beta, but works very well.
