Title: Outlook 2007 access problems
Post by: carnagerover on November 18, 2008, 06:39:09 AM
Hi all,

Only just recently got a DIR-655 and i am having trouble getting my email, i cannot to a exchange mailbox, which is provided via fasthosts. When i use my old Netgear DG834GT it prompts me for my password almost instantly.

However when i use the DIR 655 it takes forever to be able to login, when you load Outlook 2007 it attempts to connect to the exchange server, which takes far to long, if i try to do anything else in this time it says not responding. It does eventually prompt for a password but it is not usable on a day to day basis due to the amount of time it takes.

I have tried port forwarding, port 25, putting the PC in the DMZ, turning off the SPI, changing the NAT endpoint filtering all with no luck

What am i missing here, works fine with my old router with no special settings ?!

What do the router logs say? Blocked traffic?

They say the following;

Blocked incoming TCP connection request from 118.167.144.174:2176 to My ip address :25

Then

Blocked incoming TCP packet from 213.171.192.50:443 to My IP Address:49530 as RST:ACK received but there is no active connection

Just taken my IP address out but that is what is says when i try to connect

thanks for the reply

Still having no luck with this, anyone got any ideas;

Really important that i am able to check my emails all the time, my knowledge is not that great with this stuff i forwarded the port on the Dlink on my PC, port 25 but it made no difference at all, as well as the other stuff mentioned above.

What else is there to try ?

UPDATE

I have switched back to 1.11 and now i connect straight away, i was on 1.20, i would update to 121 but there appears to be some issues with DNS ?

Would you advise me to stay on 1.11 for now, i like the extra feature of 1.21, will there be an updated firmware coming out soon ?

If you are using the latest firmware try rolling back to 1.11 and see if that helps.

See some other threads in this forum for DNS issues.
Recap:
-Make sure you have 'DNS relay' marked.
-Enter OpenDNS IP's in the DNS  setup

See if that works for you.

I had similar issues until I went back to 1.11 firmware.

Yes, there is a new firmware coming out but when I do not know.

You might want to try lowering the MTU down to 1472 or 1452.

You can change the MTU setting if you click the Setup tab then click the Manual Internet Connection Setup button
