A while back I upgraded my DIR-628 to firmware 1.11. Checked today and noticed there had been a couple updates -- 1.12 and 1.13. When I tried to install 1.13, an error screen appeared, indicating that the file is incorrect. So I downloaded 1.12, which installed fine. Then I noticed that the names and sizes for the firmware files are very different.
1.12 -- dir628_firmware_112.bin -- 1,333 KB
1.13 -- Upgrader_DIR628_V113B03_E03.1 -- 2,320 KB
My router is hardware version A1. Is it not compatible with firmware 1.13?

SteveRiley,
That's the correct firmware. I just upgraded a DIR-628 here and worked fine. Can you try to re-flash the firmware again?
-
So I tried again today, with a fresh download of the firmware. This time, the following file was inside the .ZIP:
Upgrader_DIR628_113.exe -- 2,320 KB
Which is obviously different than the contents of the file I downloaded the other day. Today's version installed just fine. I like that you're using an .EXE now rather than a file I have to upload using the router's web interface.

So how did you exactly update the firmware? I have hardware version A2. I can't update it.

Daskid,
Go to http://support.dlink.com/products/view.asp?productid=DIR%2D628#
Download the 1.13 firmware and run the application.

I did that already and it still doesn't work. It keeps on asking for the admin password, which I entered correctly. I don't know why it keeps on asking and won't push through with the update.

try resetting the router to factory defaults. Then update.
