Title: Bandwidth usage metering?
Post by: MacGuyFLA on November 24, 2008, 06:07:44 PM
I would like to suggest the addition of a Bandwidth Usage Meter. Several ISP are setting Bandwidth caps on users. It would be useful to have a function that would track bandwidth used between selected dates and warn you (Email) if you are approaching a set limit.

What do you think?

Sounds like a good idea to me.

I currently use D-U Meter but that only monitors one machine.  It would indeed be nice to have this function on the router.  It may cause an issue however as most routers are limited in Cache space for the logs.

I've requested that the feature be added along with IPv6 support for future proofing.

that will be cool.

I just really need to know when I am about to hit 250GB of bandwidth on my line in a month so I cna back off an not go over.

And yes I get very close for just myself every month.  I budget 210GB for me and 40gb for the rest of the family.

Yes, there are many people requesting this feature because of ISP caps implemented in the last year.
