Title: Help! DIR-655 stopped working with wireless devices
Post by: marzies on February 02, 2011, 12:09:42 PM
Hi,

I have a Comcast modem and a DIR-655 router. I finally got them to work together (it took some doing!) and now the router has stopped working with my Roku player and laptop. It still works fine with the desktop that's wired into it.

Any suggestions?  I'm what my son refers to as a "newb"  :-\

Thanks very much.

Get a hold of Yimmy on the 4500 board. He's just posted info about his experiences.

Thanks. I checked out what he had to say - s/b helpful when I get to the actual Roku set up (however, I think my player is much older than his).

But, the problem's not only with the Roku, but all wireless devices. It seems that the router is not broadcasting a signal that any wireless devices can pick up (I hope I said that properly). For example, my laptop had been connecting fine to the Internet, and now when I try to get it to connect through the router, it says that no devices are available (or something like that).

Are there any other WiFi in your area by chance?

Can you do a factory reset and try setting the wireless to single mode G or Mixed G and N?

Try with out security to test then set up WPA 2  with Auto Cipher.

Thanks I'll try that and let you know what happens.

Verify that "always broadcast" is checked in the dhcp server settings page.
Good luck.

Use "InSSider" utility to verify broadcast status.
