Title: DNS 323 and firmware 1.06 (xbox 360 support)
Post by: rajojomanik on December 02, 2008, 07:12:49 AM
New to the forum, been looking to get the DNS 323 as a NAS enclosure to add to my home network.  It will be use to share music, photos and videos.

Video streaming will be through Xbox 360.  After some research I found out that this unit will not stream video using xbox 360 until the next firmware update of 1.06.  I decided to call D Link tech support in Canada and see if they have an ETA on the update.  The guy told me it will not be out unitl 1st quarter of 2009.

My question is to the mod/dev on this forum... is the ETA on 1.06 right?  I thought it would be sooner than that, just wondering.

Although no date is set in stone it certainly is planned to be out this month.

Hello

I am looking to buy a DNS-323, but the overiding reason to do so is to stream DivX files rather than having to leave my PC on all the time.

This definitely in firmware 1.06?

Thanks,

Steve

The .divx extension is not currently supported however divx files in the .AVI container will stream no problem. If doesn't work for you then we would not be able to add it until a future firmware.

Thank you for the quick reply.  They are standard .avi files that currently stream happily from WMP.
