Title: Dlink DIR-655 & Roku Wired ?
Post by: bmoura on December 03, 2008, 09:18:15 PM
I recently switched wireless routers from Linksys to a D-Link DIR-655.

For some reason the Roku will find the Internet with the D-Link DIR-655 in Wireless mode but not a direct wired connection to the same router! I didn't experience that with the earlier Linksys Wi-Fi G router.

Is this a known issue with D-Link DIR-655 routers ?

Some general questions (I've never used the Roku).

Are you wired and wireless simultaneously?  Are you switching between one or the other without resetting/restarting/whatever the Roku device?  If so, this would probably cause ARP resolution problems as the DIR-655 uses the same MAC address on both interfaces while the Roku may not.

I've got a hybrid setup where I have the Roku wired to a gaming adapter and then wireless to the DIR-655.   Are you using DHCP or static ip addressing?   I set my Roku up with a static IP address and I configured the default gateway as the router.  It you are using DHCP, I would give static IPs a try.   To answer the previous poster, Roku disables the wireless when it senses as wired connection, so it is impossible to use both at the same time.

I have three ROKU's. However all three operate wireless and perfectly. However, When I initially set them up, I connect them wired near the router and they also worked just fine...  Al
