Title: Reset button DOES NOT work
Post by: franpincho on December 06, 2008, 01:48:10 PM
OK, first of, this router keeps disconnecting from the internet on a daily basis. I have a windos xp system, comcast internet service, a ps3 hard wired to the wireless router ( after all, you game hard wired) and a wireless network for my iphone an a laptop. Well, the wireless network disconnects on a daily basis as i mentioned before, my firmware is 1.10, up to date i believe.
Whenever this happened, i would just disconnect the router for a while and then it would work after. On some cases i would have to restart my PC, disconnect the modem and the router, etc. I even reinstall the damn thing once, resetting to default settings and all, but now, the RESET button, DOES NOT WORK AT ALL, i press it for 10, 15, 30 seconds and the thing does not restart. Now i am all connected (but not working) the computer light displays are on (two of them) power is on, internet light is on, but status is not, it suddenly stop lighting yesterday, and i think that's where the problem resides, but how do i reset this thing???? If the reset button is NOT working!!!
Thank you all very much.

The process of Resetting a DIR-615 requires you to:

1) Disconnect the power connection.

2) Press the Reset switch, using a straightened paper clip

3) Reconnect the power

4) Wait 15 to 20 secs.

The other switch on the side of the unit is part of the WPA wireless security controls.

Or

1. Download the latest firmware
2. Assign static IP address in the computer
3. Push the reset button for 15 seconds, unplug the router while pushing the reset button and wait for 20 seconds.
4. After 20 seconds plug the router back while pressing the reset button and wait for 15 seconds and release it.
5. Try access the IP address of the router and Firmware upgrade page should come up   ::)

I have this problem for my router also, but does it disconnect often for you? For me, it disconnects every 16-20 hours or so. Also my router is hooked up to my main computer, a laptop and my Xbox 360. The router gives me a message saying "The Gateway is currently measuring your network, Please wait..." for 30 seconds, than reconnects. Do you also have this? And does anyone know a way to fix this?

I ad this problem on the 22nd. Nothing worked.
Did the crash reset above and re-installed the 1.10 firmware. All OK now.
My DIR-615 revA had been working great until the 22nd. Will watch it.
