How does the desktop connect to the router (cable or wirelessly?)
If the desktop connects via an Ethernet cable, you my want to turn off the QoS packet scheduler and deactivate the QoS engine in the router (it is extremely limited in the DIR-615.)

my desktop is conncted to modem then i connect the eithernet cable to the wireless router. basically there all hooked up together like the instructions told me. right now i got it hooked up on eithernet till i figure out why its slow when i turn it on to wireless. do you have any idea why my wireless is doing that? could this be that i need a wireless adapter or something?

I'm not sure I understand the question. Is your computer connected to the router wired or wireless? The router shouldn't affect how your PC operates. I can understand if you're viewing web pages and that takes a while to load.. Please elaborate.

my computer is wired (eithernet) for right now but when try to use my wireless router it just makes it slow. i used the router to conncet to my laptop which can use wifi. my desktop automatically goes slow as soon as my laptop conncets with my router. i found this out cause my brother tried to use the desktop while i was on my laptop using wifi. my laptop runs fine while the router makes everything on the desktop slow. so from what ur saying my router shouldnt be making it slow. i followed the instructions just like it said when i bought it. could it be my eithernet messing with it? I bought a (NETGEAR GIGABIT EITHERNET PCI ADAPTER) when i purchased my router. i didnt have a eithernet port on my desktop.
