Title: Spooling not printing to USB printer connected to DNS-343
Post by: themolk on December 14, 2008, 05:31:41 PM
Apologies if there's an obvious fix that I've missed...

Connected my Epson AL-C1100 to the NAS via USB (was printing happily when connected to my PC running Vista). Mgmt interface shows Epson printer connected to the NAS and online, and can install the printer as a network printer (setting up specific server port, etc). When I try to print to the device, it spools the job, will sometimes show in the queue, and then vanish - no printing. Have rebooted the NAS, rebooted the PC and the printer - all to no avail. I have deleted the port and started again; followed the explicit instructions supplied by DLink to install shared printer - no printing.

Firmware on NAS v1.02. Running everything else totally fine (scheduled FTP from set top box = good; 2 x 750GB drives in RAID1 = good; data transferring and access = good).

Ideas? Help, please...

Have you tried looking for updated drivers for your printer or specifically for network printing?

Sorry for the late reply.

Yes - Have searched for new/updated drivers, and the Epson site assures me that the ones that ship with Vista are the "most current".

I'm stumped as to why this isn't working...

Have you by chance tried another printer model or make. There is always a chance the USB port is defective or there is a compatibility issue with that printer.

I'm hoping it's not a compatability issue, but it's looking like it.   >:(

I have the latest drive, and can print via the same physical connection from my PC. When I plug it into the NAS and use the correctly configured printer setup, no printy.

I'll keep looking and trying - thanks for the help!
