Title: DIR-655 and Speedstream Coexistance
Post by: pingjockey on December 15, 2008, 06:10:07 AM
I am trying to determine how to configure both the DIR-655 and the Speedstream 5200 work together. Currently, I have the 5200 handling all routing, NAT and DHCP functions via a 8 port switch.

What I would like to have is the DIR-655 handline NAT, Routing, DHCP and wireless. Here are my concerns:

Since I am on DSL my speedstream 5200 is using PPPOA and I am not sure weather or no the DIR can handle that function.

Anyone have any experience or thoughts on this?

Thanks

No the 655 can not handle PPPoA, you'll have to run it double nat'd.

Well what would double nating do to my performance? Also, what would be the best way to configure....

Both devices have DHCP, should I set the pool range on the DIR for a different address pool than the Speedstream (IE:Set the DIR for 10.0.0.X and leave the speedstream 192.168.254.X)

Any recommendations on configuration would be helpful. Thanks again
