Title: Recording TV
Post by: rcigliano on December 16, 2008, 06:30:39 AM
Does the DSM-750 in MCE mode have to be turned on in order to record a show that I have scheduled.

For example, if I set up to record a show on Wednesday night @ 8 PM does the DSM-750 have to be on at this time? Is it scheduled on the DSM-750 or the PC running Media Center (which will be on)?

Should I keep the DSM-750 on all the time even if I am not using it? Will this cause an issue?

No, the recording is a function of your computer.  You will have to make sure your computer is able to come out of hibernation or sleep mode to record a show.  Media Center gives a several minutes leeway in order for a machine to boot up and start recording.  Your DSM-750 can be kept turned off.  Is has no influence on the recording via Media Center.
