The new support for mkv files in the new firmware is great.
It works perfectly on the USB port. I want to update the TVERSITY profile to passs the files to the 750 without transcoding.
What should be changed in the profile file?
Solution:
Replace the following line in the 750 section of the profiles.xml file
<!-- not supported mimetype value="video/x-matroska" rename="video/MP4V-ES"/--> <!--This is for hopefull "x264" support in the future, specifically for matroska (x264) files -->
with
<mimetype value="video/x-matroska"/>

Please keep us updated on this TVersity ting. I've been interested in trying this programme, as TVtonic doesn't function anymore. I did download this with the hopes of installing it, however, it wanted me to turn off UAC, and I was therefore a little sceptical. I'm sure they will fix that for the main release.

Solved the problem with the help of someone in the TVersity forums. Now virtually all my 720P files play flawlessly on my 720P LCD TV.
Replace the following line in the 750 section of the profiles.xml file
<!-- not supported mimetype value="video/x-matroska" rename="video/MP4V-ES"/--> <!--This is for hopefull "x264" support in the future, specifically for matroska (x264) files -->
with
<mimetype value="video/x-matroska"/>
FYI:
I much prefer the TVersity to using WMP (on an XP system) as it:
- appears to be much faster generating data for menus
- transcodes things the DSM cannot natively play
- has more adaptable menu structure
- is generally more flexable
I cannot compare to using VISTA as I do not have it
