Title: Connections keep cutting out...need to relase/renew often?
Post by: bkhills on December 20, 2008, 12:52:01 PM
 ???

Hey guys,

I have been stuck on this one for a while.

DIR-655
Time warner Cable Modem (home) Dynamic
1.21 firmware(new)
Wired connections - 3 computers, 1 trixbox Voip PBX (not running right now till Internet is stable)
Wireless - blackberry 2 laptops

Maybe 4-7 times a day the Internet will just cut out.

I would then logon to the router and release/renew and things would be up and running again. I have no idea why this keeps happening and i have tried so many options.

Any ideas? Help

How does the router receive the IP from the modem?

What do the logs say? I have a blackberry on mine and I get wireless restarts often. I still haven't been able to link the problem directly with the blackberry yet.

TWC has had some problems lately with connectivity problems and what not.  Everything okay when you directly connect to the modem?  If everything is okay then, then we know it's the router.

If it's NOT okay, then you need to let us know about your cable modem that is being used.  Ambit, RCN, Terayon, Motorola Surfboard, etc.

Definitely tell us what your logs say.  Internet cutting out can be literally ANYTHING.

I am having same issue with regard to system cutting out...I have firmware 1.21 w/o SecureSpot; tried to downgrade to 1.04 (which worked flawlessly), but it won't allow me to.

Please help...kinldy PM me for my logs as this forum will NOT allow me to attach my log file...
