Title: uPnP Media server not working correctly in 1.06b65
Post by: pingjockey on December 24, 2008, 09:36:17 AM
So before the flames start I would like to get one thing straight. I fully understand the meaning of Beta firmware. So without a place to make a proper bug report I decided to come here and float this question.

I have been pulling my hair out trying to stream from the dns-323 to a xbox360. I can't seem to get the xbox360 to see the dns-323. Has anyone else had an a similar issue?

Not helpful I know, but it works for me.  I just go to 'Videos' having enabled uPNP on my router and on the DNS-323 and the DNS appears alongside my computer.

It will not stream Xvids (that will stream from my PC) but is happy with DivX etc...

Actually, the dilemma you find yourself in is one of your own making - if you had obtained the beta firmware legimately, you would have access to the channels to make a "proper bug report".

Well, I guess I missed the sign up for the beta then. It's not all that big of a deal really as I can just roll the firmware back and wait.

Of course the comment of putting yourself in this dilemma is not helpful as I have been in quite a few beta's before and I stated that I understood what I was doing in the beginning of the thread.

But you know everyone has to throw there two sense in I guess.

Ignoring the fact that you're running beta f/w, support for the XBOX360 has been *spotty* at best.  The following thread eludes to X360 support in 1.06:

That said, some folks have experienced issues streaming media off of the DNS when the content is several folders deep or the filenames are too long or contain non-standard characters.

Hi,

Could you tell me how to become an official beta tester?
I'm running since a while an "unofficial" beta tester and it's really a problem not been able to report problems.

Many thanks for the reply,
Best wishes for this year end.

Well it looks like the offical firmware 1.06 has hit the streets. And it looks like beta65 to me, but I won't hang my hat on it until I can run some checksums on the actual files (probably tonight). I am in the midest of refreshing my upnp server and hopefully it will work.
