ok, here it is.
can i access devices connected to the 1522, say my media player, from my pc which is not connected to the 1522. my pc is connected to my dir-625.
i can ping devices behind the 1522, but i cannot access them.
is this at all possible,

Let's temporarily remove the DAP-1522 -- can you move the media player to where it can be connected directly to the dir-625? If connected this way, does it work?
If removing the DAP-1522 does not help, then the DAP-1522 isn't part of the problem. The next step would be to save the configuration on the DIR-625 router then put the router to factory defaults and see if it was some setting that is causing the problem.
If removing the DAP-1522 does help, then the DAP-1522 could be part of the problem but the solution still might be a router configuration. So, similar to the above, I would start back at factory defaults on both the DIR-625 and the DAP-1522 as they should work out-of-the-box.
