Title: Can I connect a USB external HD directly to the 343 and copy files to/from?
Post by: mike343 on December 30, 2008, 12:44:02 PM
I have my 343 connected to a SOHO Gigabit switch.  My PC (also gigabit) is connected to that same switch.   I have an external USB HD (formatted in NTFS) connected to the PC.

I'm currently copying almost 300GB of data to the 343...and I'm going on 7 hours waiting for it to finish.  >:(
I've copied that same chunk of data many times to a local HD on that PC and it takes less than 3 hours.

Can I connect the external HD directly to the 343?  If so, how do I access the data?  Thanks.

Currently there is no official way of connecting a USB storage device to the DNS-343 USB port. Sorry for any inconvienence this has caused you.

Hmm.  So no "official way" meaning it's not supported...but will it work/can it be made to work?
Anyone? ???
