My logfile has a lot of these entries over the last two days:
user.warn kernel: [813378.010000] ath_bstuck_tasklet: stuck beacon; resetting (bmiss count 36)
What is a stuck beacon, what causes it?
My network functions fine, I never noticed anything amiss.
Maybe I should turn off the warnings.
-
Stuck beacon errors have been attributed to:
Old obsolete NIC wireless drivers
Power Save settings on NIC
Wireless Channel interference...choose another channel
MTU settings-Try to alter your settings and watch for errors.
-
It could be interference. I had my bluetooth phone nearby.
I'll keep an eye on it.
Question:
If I change the channel, do all my wireless devices need resetting or will they update accordingly?
-
They should find your new channel. Use InSSider free software to determine the best channel for your location. You could also try turning your transmit power down if your wireless is very close to the router.
Never use the channel AUTO select. Especially if your workstations are far from the router.
Set your channel manually....ALWAYS
Routers don't do a good enough job of choosing channels.

Thank you!
I had many more stuck beacons without the bluetooth interference possibility.
I downloaded InSSider and picked channel 11.
I was using the default setting of channel AUTO select.
There is only one other D-Link router nearby and it is on auto-select. The other nearby networks are on either 1 or 6.
PS: only the D-Links boast 300 N, the other branded N settings max at 144.
