Post by: irocem on January 13, 2009, 10:47:03 AM
I have a computer with a dlink wireless network card that matches the DIR-655..The router is one level down and the computer is 12 feet away upstairs..I can see all the neighbors networks and connect to the one's without security, but can't connect to my own.I just took back and apple airport for that same reason..I don't understand why?

Have you configure the wireless part of your router? Try locking down wireless to a specific channel  and change the SSID.

(adding) and make sure your SSID is broadcasting (Setup - Wireless - Manual Wireless Setup - Visibility Status: visible).

Hi irocem,

Are you using Network Magic? Are you using the Network Filter?

I've tried all that..Its broadcasting, says very good to excellent signal, but it only tried to connect with peer to peer, the name of the network not to the SSID device..

"but it only tried to connect with peer to peer, the name of the network not to the SSID device"

Sorry, but I don't understand what that meant.

In wireless parlance, the SSID is the name of the network.  A "peer-to-peer" connection might refer to an "Ad-Hoc" connection -- which the DIR-655 does not do.  You want to connect to a Infrastructure Mode network.

Uninstall the driver and reboot the OS and let the OS re-install the driver. If it doesn't you'll need to do it manually with the CD or download update for the driver.
