Is this possible? What might the procedure be so my files are kept safe? I am currently running Seagate ST32000542AS 2TB drives but have been having some issues with drives degrading, then a rebuild and all is OK for a time. I would like to eliminate the drives from the list of possibles (hoping !) and got a good deal with rebate on Amazon for a new DNS-323. My old one was acting wierd for a while now, I think even before the 2TB drives (had 2 500gig drives in there) under FW1.08 and then 1.09. I am making a back-up of all the data just in case but was hoping to just make some settings and plug in a (the) drives and have the drives (with data intact) recognized..

OK.... Well, I just did it !!
No problems at all... AND, If anyone read my last call for help about the disks degrading after a short time, HD lights no longer working, NAS reverting to factory for no reason, etc..... I checked the Seagate site this morning and the ST320005N4A1AS-RK drive pdf info file states it is good for "highend/gaming computers and RAID arrays" so I breathed easier as I had a feeling it was a 4k sector drive!
The new unit is on FW1.08 and seems to be AOK. I think I will call d-link for an RMA for my other unit...
