I am thinking of getting a DNS-321 and using 2 Western Digital Caviar Green 1TB WD10EADS drives in RAID 1. Is anyone using this configuration? Do new SATA drive models not on D-Link's compatibility list generally work?
I also have a question on the 1.01 firmware problems: If I am content with the single default R/W "All" share, I don't need to set additional permissions, I don't use the media server, and I format disks 1 at a time, will I be OK with 1.01 firmware? Or should I wait for 1.02 prior to purchasing DNS-321? Again my main concern is that RAID 1 works.
Thanks for the help!

I'm using two WD10EACS-00ZJB0 1000 G drives in my DNS-323. I've had it setup for quite awhile now, maybe 6+ months. I haven't had a single problem. I know it's not the same DNS but I'm pretty sure 1TB drives aren't an issue. Now, if you're talking about 1.5TB drives, that's another story. I believe the latest DNS 321 firmware update was issued partially to address 1.5TB drive compatibility.
The default setup should be OK if you don't mind mapping a drive with a bunch of DNS system folders and files sitting in the root directory. I have no idea if the all accounts permission will disappear but I assume it won't if you don't create any users / groups and don't edit or create any additional shares.

I'm also using 2 WD10EADS. Both drives work perfectly.

I am using them also on Firmware version 1.02b6 formatted Raid 1 EXT3 - No issues
