Title: wifi n-gigabit lan transfer speed only 13 mbps
Post by: morfarj on February 13, 2011, 02:30:50 AM
hi.

i have a speed issue.

my problem is that i have a computer connected via gigabit lan with a cat5e cable.
i have a notebook with a d-link dwa-140 usb wifi adapter connected.
and the max transfer speed i get is 14 mbps.

d-link dir-655 firmware 1.34eu.

in windows it reports 300mbps.
in the router it reports 270 mbps sometimes 300.

the settings in the router is 40mhz only,. ch 13. wpa2 aes. as described in the sticky.

the devices are within 3 ft of each other.
please help me as the only reason i bought this router and adapter, was that i expected a transfer rate at at least 20mbps.

You don't have a transfer speed. The speeds you are attaining are correct for file transfers. I'm getting 10mbps on my Mac Book Pro. The speeds you are seeing at 300 and 270 are connection speeds between devices, not actual file transfer speeds. If your seeing 13Mb thats pretty good man.
