OK, first, I'll admit I'm not an IT guy, but I do know a bit about computers - but, when I installed my new DNS-323 to my Netgear N600 router with two WD20EARS HDD installed, it will not connect to the network. I have two HDD drive lights, but the network light is not lit. I cannot access the devise via IE8 using any IP address. I've tried powering on and off the NAS and the computer and have swapped out the network cable. The port in the router works when a computer is connected to it. I've also tried connecting the NAS to a different port in the router.
Thoughts?
Thanks - Jim

WD20EARS drives are not supported. See this thread.

New firmware will be released shortly to make these drives compatible.
Is DHCP enabled in the router?

try removing both drives and then power on the dns323 and see if you can connect then.

Removed the drives and still cannot connect to the devise. Network light is still not lit. Perhaps I have a defective unit.

If the network LED is not lit you have no network connection - possibly a defective unit, possibly a defective network cable, possibly an autonegotiation issue with your router - try connecting the NAS directly to your computer with a different cable, if the LED still does not turn on, I would assume a defective unit.
