Title: Installing DIR-615
Post by: fortnerw on February 20, 2011, 09:01:18 PM
I am going to install a DIR-615 wireless router to my computer system. At present I have a DI-524 hooked to system. It has been hooked to my system and performed great for the last several years. Should I remove the DI-524 from the system and also the software from my present computer before beginning the install of the DIR-615. Thanks for any info on this matter that would make the transition easier!

Yes it's recommended to remove the previous router and SW from your system before installing the new one.

When you install the 615, you don't have to use the CD to setup the 615 router. You can manually set up the router from the ip address if you wish. The router will work if you just connect the LAN cable to the router and the router to your ISP modem.

Thanks FuryNutzz for the information. This form is very informative and I am glad I found it. I have had this router for over a year but just did not get around to installing it. I will now give it a whirl and also install the updates. Thanks again for the info
