USB Modems will not work on the USB port. ALL Internet traffic must come from a ISP modem using the WAN port (RJ45) connection in back.

Well I presume this might be possible if you have a 3G USB adaptor. I presume that you should select the Share Port for the device and then you would need to install the SharePort Utility on each PC to connect to it. Not sure how this works exactly. I know that the utility helps PCs connect to devices connected to the USB Port, such as printers and USB Flash drives.

So doing some research on the Internet, seems like 3G mobile modem devices are supported on some of these routers:
"One of the most unique features to this router which is a compelling selling point as well is built-in cellular modem support. For example, you can connect a USB 3G or EV-DO networking card to the router and it will provide Internet access for you network via the cellular modem in the case that you're ISP's connection fails. While probably not a practical thing for a home setting, a small business may find this feature crucial if your business has important time-sensitive data that needs to be sent out. Keep in mind that you will have to subscribe to an Internet data plan from a cellular carrier in order for this feature to work."

Didn't mention any non 3G devices and can only speculate if they would work or not.

Is the mobile modem you are asking about a 3G modem or non 3G?

I believe you do as it sets up the connectivity for the 3G and the PCs your trying to connect to it. I don't think there is any other way to connect to it. All the other settings in the router pertain to connecting to the WAN (RJ45) port. I presume that the ShartPort Utility connects via the LAN side to the router and connects with the device at the USB Port. That the only thing that you can use to configure the USB port and get other PCs to connect to it. That application needs to be installed on each PC I believe.

Are there other Internet options for you in your area? Or is this just a back up if the Main ISP goes down? It's probably preferred to use a Wired ISP for getting connected to the Internet.

Well, checking with recourses, I would keep your DSL. And besides, DSL is faster, even if you get a low priced speed package IMO.
