Hey there! Thank you for providing the GPL sources for the DIR-825 rev.B firmware. However, it is incomplete!
The bootloader used by the device is U-Boot, which is also licensed under the terms of the GPL. Sadly these parts are missing from the source code package provided by D-Link.
Therefore I am asking you to add the U-Boot sources to the provided archive or post them here in the forum. Thanks very much!

I recommend you contact DLink directly, Moderator or Support.

You should try emailing Dlink.
Can I ask you how much Dlink charged you for "copying" fees? Also did they send you the current firmware source or an older version?
TIA

Already tried that to no avail.

Will do! Who specifically would that be?

Nothing, because that's what I got. Upon contacting local support here in Germany they referred me to ftp://ftp.dlink.com/GPL/ . AFAIK that's all there is. Somewhat ancient initial release versions only, incomplete for the DIR-825 :(

I downloaded that source too, but never tried to build it because it seem incomplete and as you say very old.
I've only looked at the GPL licence once but I'm pretty sure Dlink is violating the agreement by not providing current buildable code.

By the way, @wimsop, did you contact anybody and get a response? The new GPL FTP server seems to be down, as of April 26, 2011:

I did. No response from the mods though, apparently they haven't been active here for some time now. D-Link global support told me to expect a new build by the end of April, German support even gave Apr 15 as a date. Unfortunately nothing has happened yet. FTP server is working for me, nothing new to be found there, though :(

Weird. On a Verizon Internet connection, the GPL FTP server was not working. I then SSH tunneled into a Comcast Internet connection, and I was able to connect to the GPL FTP server.
Thanks for letting me know that the GPL FTP server is working, although I should have checked on different Internet connections first.

On the GPL FTP server, a new directory, "/DIR-825_revB/previous ver/", has a creation date of "4/28/2011 7:45 PM".
Interesting...

Does anyone else have trouble extracting the full source code from this download?
ftp://gpl.dlink.com/DIR-825_revB/DIR-825_B1_GPL.rar (http://ftp://gpl.dlink.com/DIR-825_revB/DIR-825_B1_GPL.rar)

Sort of. Archive is truncated, so there is quite a bit missing. The U-boot parts extract ok and compile successfully though. You might wanna try the fully working EU version over here:
ftp://ftp.dlink.de/dir/dir-825/driver_software/DIR-825EU-B1-GPLSourceCode.tar.gz (ftp://ftp.dlink.de/dir/dir-825/driver_software/DIR-825EU-B1-GPLSourceCode.tar.gz)

Yes, the archive "DIR825B1_FOSS205NA.rar" inside "DIR-825_B1_GPL.rar" is corrupted.
The EU GPL FTP server timed out a few times while I was getting "DIR-825EU-B1-GPLSourceCode.tar.gz". Anyway, here are the file hashes:
