Hi... Greetings from Brazil, guys... Sorry if this question is a repeated one, but I have a problem... I'm quite satisfied with my DNS-323 which is also my FTP Server at home... I can reach it wherever I am through Internet usually using FileZilla... However I've been noticing everytime I go to my folders I see( and I delete them right immediately..) some files which I didn't post them in there... I assumed they were viruses or even malwares... Whatever... The question is :- How can I prevent my DNS-323 against such a thing like that...? More... How come those files have been appeared in there...??? My DNS-323 is connected to a D-Link DSL-2460B modem + router... Both of them - DNS and DSL are quite brand new... I have 3 computers at home (where both are...) and they are very well protected with antivisuses programs and so... Some of the files I have said above have also Icons... I've scanned the DNS using avast version 4.8 Professional and it said those were trojans or even malwares and so... In a nutshell, is there a way to avoid those intruders into my DNS-323 HDs, which, by the way, I have 2 Sata ones , 2TB each, also brand new... What do I have to do..?

Can we assume that you have basic security - user names & passwords in place to prevent anonymous access?

Yes... Actually only me and my son have full authority to use it... I mean, only 2 people are listed as users...

I would think the most likely source is one of your PCs. Viruses rarely would attack an FTP site in this manner. Is the file location any clue (i.e. outside the FTP location)? Are you running NAT? Does your router have tracing capabilities?

Ok... Let's see.... Yes.. I'm using the NAT functions as my DNS-323 is directly connected to my D-Link 2640B DSL modem+router... I also must say those intruder files only appear not into my folders but just outside them... You know, I have 2 Hds.. V.1 and V.2... The files appear where we could call the root... The files are something like these ones:- xfmtus.exe or totbhu.exe or qolhig.exe, among others... And NO.. I don't think my computers could infect my DNS.. You see, only one computer was and can be used to directly connect the DNS whenever is necessary which by the way is rare... Besides I always scan my computers from the root with my antivirus program... Now that you have mentioned I remember that the function NetWork access was enable for everyone... I've just disabled that...

Well... I think my problems are solved... Since I disabled Network Access ( sorry, silly mistake of mine...) no more intruders... I believe those files got into my NAS through Internet... It's been almost 24 hours without any intruder... Now another question... ??? Sometimes it's a kind of boring access my NAS 'cause it is sleeping so to speak... So, what is the best way to wake it up as fast as it can...?
