Title: Help - Returning friend cannot log in again
Post by: LadyLee on March 01, 2011, 04:58:37 PM
Hello,

I had a friend's laptop here to do cleanup maintenance for her.  No problem at all logging into my D-link. When she came to pick it up, I deleted the information in HER networking folder to clear any access to my D-link.

A week or so later she came back here to learn something I had showed her and she was confused.

Ok, we opened HER laptop and could see my network SSID and I typed in the password. It says "enabled' but from that point it simply  says authenticating when trying to bring up a web page.  It has an excellent signal strength etc. etc.

I think it is something I did on her laptop when I deleted the original connection??   There are many other wireless networks around me (condo) and many are not secure.  ???   In the end, I just grabbed an unsecured one but I would like her to be able to get back on my network because she will be returning to learn more about the web and email.

I run D-link 655
wired to my desktop (without a hitch)
                  wireless to my own laptop
                  wireless HP photosmart
                  Ooma Voip
Windows 7 on both of my computers
She is running XP on her laptop

Thank you for any help with this.   Donna

Hi Donna,

Did you remember to disable the Network Filter in the Router Settings? Also try turning off the Windows 7 Computers, the next time. It can block a foreign computer joining your Home Network.

You could activate the Guest Network and let her connect to that.
