Title: Schedule Download - something to keep in mind
Post by: lookingforinfo on March 03, 2011, 07:31:55 PM
Be aware, if you create and save scheduled downloads and later you reset your system to Factory Default settings, all your scheduled jobs will be removed.  This could be a real bummer if you have to do a reset and did not have a current list of the download jobs.

You could save your settings to a file, and then restore after the reset.

Would I need ffp to do this?  I do not trust saving settings by using Tools> System > Save Configuration Settings.  I usually only reset my system to Factory Default Settings after a Firmware upgrade, and it was my impression that the format of the saved configuration could change between firmware versions.  The format should not change, but life has been better when I manually enter the configuration.

I meant the built in Save Configuration settings, but you are right. D-Link might change the format so the backup can't be used.

(I opened the file in Notepad++. It's an XML-file, so quite readable. I was after the Backup settings, and they are there, but for some reason the source and destination paths are encoded to HEX code.)
