Hi all,
Just thought I'd say that I recently purchased a DNS-320 and was pretty annoyed to find the situation regarding newer drivers / advanced formatting / sector sizes. Considering other NAS's have had firmware updated to allow these new 4Kb sector drives, I would have hoped that dlink would have sorted it by now... Anyway, after looking at their compatibility list and the 2TB disks being a lot more expensive compared to other ones on the market, I purchased this one:
Hitachi 2TB 3.5" DESKSTAR 5K300 SATA 6GB/s Coolspin Hard Drive - 32MB Cache - HDS5C3020ALA6
Happy to say its a 512Kb sector drive, its a 5400rpm disk (Hitachi call it coolspin?!).. and it works perfectly. In the UK its around £70 which isnt too far off the samsung ones too. There is a 7200rpm version of the disk which according to various benchmarks is pretty damn fast.
Anyway - any questions, just ask.

As the 320 is new, I would have expected it to support 4K sector drives. Are you sure this is not the case? Especially as the 323 does now with 1.10 firmware.

There is a thread here somewhere (maybe in the 321 forum), where a D-link employee says the advanced format drives work in the DNS-320 (and 321,323).
