Hello
I would like to set up a recurring backup for my dns. I currently use it as an all purpose NAS and would like some data security. I have tried Norton Ghost but it will only allow me to backup local files to a nas.
I am flexible in where I back it up, but I would like to find a program that will take care of it on a schedule. I have a dir 655 router and would prefer to connect an enclosure to the router via the usb port and back up to the enclosures drives (obviously while running the actual backup program on one of my networked computers). But if this cant be done I can live with it.
I just want a recurring backup of my dns to another drive.
Thanks for your help.

Just my 2 cents, but I have an external USB SATA enclosure hooked up to the DNS-323. Every month I stick a hard drive in there and run a custom script that syncronises the data to the USB drive (rsync). This is achieved by using FFP (third party modification).

thanks for the response
ive tinkered with ffp in the past but am not very capable with it
i was hoping to just have an automated option that compresses the backup

I use a program called Second Copy. It's pretty straightforward and reliable but (I think) it would need to run from a PC, not from the DNS, so you'd be limited to running it when that PC was on.
