I am running Windows XP Professional. When I launch my shareport utility it gives a message
D-Link
Firewall
TCP Out Port: 80; 2005
UDP Out Port: 9303
I have enabled the firwall but I have enabled the entries Shareport Network USB Utility and Shareport Network USB utility UDP port as exceptions (to pass firewall).
I have a similar config for my other laptop which runs on Windows XP Home and it connects the harddrive/printer through shareport utility perfectly.

So your Firewall works, that's for sure.
In Vista the Windows firewall exceptions are created automatically. The settings are:
Shareport exe full access (Any computer)
Shareport UDP port 9303 (any computer)
Check if they are allowed to connect to "any computer"
-
I checked and they are allowed to connect to any computer and those entries are present and the checkbox is "checked" for exceptions still it gives me a firewall error. This does not happen with my other laptop which runs Windows Home XP. Can you please help?
-
describe the firewall error please. Is it the Windows firewall message or a message from a antivirus/firewall from an other vendor?
-
It gives an error with small window D-link with the below error message.
Firewall
TCP Out Port: 80; 2005
UDP Out Port: 9303

Just checking: Do you have UPnP enabled in Windows and on the router?
-
It is turned on the router as well as the laptop. I tried turning it off as well but no luck...
-
Do you have admin priviliges or did you have them while installing the utilty?
-
I have admin privilidges and I installed the utility through my user id.

This is a Windows issue, not a specific Shareport issue. Have you checked the Windows defender log for any blocked startup drivers?
-
I tried calling the technical support and they have no clue what's going on. Any othre options I can try, else I might have to retun the router.
-
Trust me, it's a Windows issue. Can you give a reason why it should be router issue? PLease try running the app with the Firewall OFF and see what happens.
-
I tried with firewall turned off. I still gives the same firewall message on the wireless network. If I wire it (connect it to lan gigabit) it does not give the firewall message but it does not connect to the router either. I have Windows XP Professional service pack 2 running while on my other laptop its Windows XP Home service pack 3 could that be the issue?
-
Well.. Does you XP SP3 machines have issues with shareport?
-
Nope my Win XP Home SP3 does not have any issues with the shareport.
-
Sounds like an issue with the XP machine running SP2.. Why dont you try to upgarde to SP3?
