I've had my dir-655 for a couple of years now and it works flawlessly.
However, the unit is still at firmware 1.32NA, but D-Link support site says 1.35NA is latest firmware.
I've tried to update the firmware; tried using different browsers, incrementally used 1.33NA, 1.34NA and 1.35NA files, but same thing, it never updates any firmware. Seems stuck on 1.32NA.
Also, within the browser admin dir-655 config page, when I click on Tools > Firmware and check for any new updates, it always says I have the latest, 1.32NA
Suggestions?
Thank you very much.

Do a factory reset then update the firmware to 1.35NA. Don't restore your config file as 1.35NA is a major change due to removal of securespot.

Thank you very much, Dave!
Your suggestion did the trick.
Firmware now at 1.35NA and everything works great.
I appreciate your time and reply very much.

I bought the DIR 655 just a few weeks ago. It came with Firmware: 1.32NA, 2009/07/09 . Hardare Version: A4. I am curious why you upgraded - whether it was just to have the latest or fix a problem.
I do find that the router is not consistently much faster than my old Linksys WRT54G v2, but at times (duh, right?). But what we experience sporadically is the "acquiring network address" problem which baffles me.
What were the steps that you took and did the upgrade fix anything for you? Thank you for the info.
