Ensure your DSL modem is in bridged/transparent mode?
Ensure the DSL modem is getting a good signal from the ISP?
Ensure the DSL lines are filtered correctly and in good condition?
Enter in the PPPoE information into the 655 router and ensure it's entered in correctly?
Ensure Always On is selected in the router?
Power cycle the DSL modem first, the the 655 router after the PPPoE information was been set up.

My old router is working fine. (and it being working fine for 6+years) When I plug this new one, I have this problems.
I powered down the DSL and dir-655 revb many times and in different power up orders...
and when I bring back the old router, everything is OK.
Other thing I noticed is that to navigate the dir-655 revb web pages to make/change settings is to slow.....

Try swapping the LAN cable between the 655 router and the DSL modem?
Any chance you have a nieghbor or a friend that has DSL that you can test this router on?
If you do, and the problem still exists, then possible the router is bad.

- For DSL/PPPoE connections on the router, ensure that "Always ON" option is enabled.
- WAN Port Speed set to Auto or specific speed? Some newer ISP modems support 1000Mb so manually setting to Gb speeds can be supported by the router. Advanced/Advanced Networking/WAN Port Speed
