As far as I can tell I have the router configured for remote admin from the web outside the network however I cannot establish a connection with the router.
Other than adding the check mark and selecting a port are there any other considerations for remote admin?
Config from within the LAN is fine.

How are you typing in the address URL into the browser?
-
Http://my.ip:8080
The port iis set to 8080 on the router. This worked on my old router just fine.

here is the response from the router the browser receives.

What ISP modem do you have? DSL or cable?
-
Cable. and as I said earlier with my old dlink router there was no issue connecting.

You may need to check the firewall settings, try using endpoint independent for both TCP and UDP.
Could try putting in a QoS rule. Or turning off Qos.

Wasn't there something discussed with needing to change your password on either your admin account or user account? Seems they can't be the same if your trying to log in remotly. Can you atleast see the login screen?
-
Ya, now that you mention that...there was something regarding admin and user account PWs need to be different.
-
Yea I thought so. Link to the thread here (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=13484.0).
SAME ISSUE here - but someone already SOLVED this on this forum:
RESOLUTION:
The problem is that you have the same ADMIN password as your USER password.
For some reason, this particular model/firmware of D-link router does not want you to use the same password for both the Admin and User.
That doesn't explain why he wouldn't be able to access the log in page though. The remote location, is it a buisness? Or are you testing from inside your LAN? If so, try from a outside location, direct to a modem. As far as I know, no ISP blocks 8080. More info on that fact discussed here (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=7224.0).

You I cannot access the login screen at all. I am outside the lan trying to access the router. As I stated I could access my old one in exactly the same fashion with no issues.

1. Bypass all routers if possible on the client side. Also try disabling any firewalls or AV software you can.
2. Try putting the router back and place and confirming it still works. Rules out any changes on client side or ISP side.
3. Make sure there is no inbound filter.
Other then that, don't have any other ideas.

If you can seem to directly access the router from the WAN side, try using Teamviewer thats loaded on both internet PC and home PC and see. Might be an alternative for you.
