Title: VERY strange problems, disk management & folders
Post by: kungfuu on March 26, 2011, 04:43:50 AM
I have 2 major computers in my network using the DNS-323. One has always had WinXP 32-bit but the one I use the most first had WinXP x64 but now WinXP 32-bit instead.

First I thought the problems were compability issues with x64, but that was not the case. Theese problems are only present on my main computer, the HTPC works just fine.

1. When I create a new folder I get an error message when I try to give it a name. Therefore they always get called "New Folder". No problems deleting it and very strangely - creating or renaming it in a DOS-promt works fine!?! The error message is "Cannot rename New Folder: Access is denied"
When programs themselves create folders, no errors occur. In one case out of ten, creating and naming folders actually work, but only once.

2. When I try to move a folder within the NAS, it starts to COPY the whole folder physically from one place to another instead of just updating the folder position (TOC).

Again, this works just fine from the other computer which makes me really pussled... any sollutions?

Am I really the only person in the world that has encountered these problems? Please give me a hint here...

I think you have already identified that it's a problem with one of your computers or its configuration rather than with the NAS
