Title: 615 E4 Emergency mode
Post by: kantoku on March 26, 2011, 11:07:13 AM
Hello,

I recently bought a new DLink 615 E4 router.
After a botched firmware update, I attempted to enter the emergency room.
I got in once, and tried to upload the firmware using Internet Explorer 8, but it was stuck there for over two hours without any progress (stuck at the browse/upload page), so I disconnected it.

I haven't been able to enter the Emergency room since then. I get to the point where the power light blinks orange, and connecting my laptop to the router using the wired connection lights up the proper LAN light, but I cannot ping or access 192.168.0.1 anymore.

Is there anything I can do to get back into it?
Thank you in advance.

In case anyone ever faces that problem, I got back into emergency mode by doing the following:
a) I used windows XP instead of windows 7
b) I used Firefox 3.6 instead of Internet Explorer 8
c) I used the 30/30/30 reset method with the LAN cable connected at all times instead of: turning it on 20 seconds after unplugging it with the reset button held and then inserting the LAN cable.

I honestly don't know which of those helped, but it was in that configuration that I was able to get back into the emergency room and successfully re-flashed the latest firmware.
