Title: DIR 632 Disconnects AOL AIM IM every 10mn or so
Post by: vreynaud on March 30, 2011, 11:39:21 AM
there is no DIR 632 forum so I figured I'll post in the most active close one:
my DIR 632 Disconnects AOL IM every 10mn or so, i tried changing the ports from 5190 to 443 which use to sole an issue of rapid disconnects/reconnects with a previous router (linqsys).
Has anyone experienced the same? can it be fixed? any tech person here?
thank you

How are you connecting to the router? Wired or Wifi?
What wireless modes are you using if WiFi?

What ISP service do you have? DSL or Cable?
What ISP modem do you have? Stand alone or built in router?

Does this do this with using a different AIM client? like Digsby?

Yea, well I doabt it's going to work under 443, unless they are using HTTP to transmit the data. I think AIM usually uses TCP on port 5190. Atleast that is the one registered to them. But, I agree with Furry, need more input.

BTW, Have you thought of a different client? Pidgin is mighty nice. Loads 10times quicker and no adds. Works with all known systems. AIM, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, Gmail, etc.
