Title: What am I doing wrong or what is wrong?
Post by: schumach on March 30, 2011, 09:48:25 PM
I just replaced my 320 gig drives with 2 Hitachi 2 TB drives.  I am running FW 1.08 and the drives can be formatted to standard, but as soon as I try to setup RAID I have issues.  The unit will freeze when trying to setup a RAID of 500 gig or more.  I am unable to ping the unit or get web access, the lights on the front stop flashing.  I was able to setup a 500 gig RAID successfully, but that is not what I need.   I can put the 320 gig drives back in a re-sync and the unit is works fine.  Any help would be greatly appreciated, I have put over 20 hours into the unit, no server access for at least a week and am getting ready to get rid of it and purchase another manufacture.

Thank you,

On another note the unit power button on the front does not respond to shut the unit off.  I have to pull the power from the back of the unit to reboot.

Is there a chance that the Hitachi drives are not supported?  We all know the D-Link list of supported drives is out of date.  If you post the model  of the drives, there may be someone on the list has tried the same drive and could help.

Are they advanced format 4k sector drives?
