Title: Tivo won't connect to the internet
Post by: hanginghelmet on April 02, 2011, 10:07:26 PM
Hello everyone I am having a problem with my tivo RS-TX20.  I just got this for my daughters room on ebay.  When going through the setup it wont connect to my home network.  I am using a Microsoft MN-510 adapter.  It finds the adapter in the initial setup but when it is finally trying to connect to the internet the connection fails and an error comes up saying the adapter could not be found. I am thinking it must have something to do with my DIR-655 router because I have the same exact tivo in another room and it works perfectly.  I even took the tivo wireless adapter from that unit and tried and the same issue occured.  Can anyone help here???

if you took the working adaptor card from the known working tivo units and still could not get this tivo unit from ebay working, I would presume that this unit is not configured correctly or not working. I don't think it's the 655 router as you said the other 2 are working in the other room. Need to make sure your ebay tivo is set up right. Are these adaptors wired or wireless? Try using wired connection to the tivo if it has a LAN port first to test. If you get connection there then you'll know maybe this unit needs some configuration for wireless.
